"And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said to them, ‘O my people, worship Allah; there is no god for you besides Him. Will you not then fear Him?" (Surah Mu'minun, 23)
He also warned his people against disbelief, as disbelief always brings injustice and cruelty wherever it is practiced. Prophet Noah steadfastly delivered the right message for 950 years, and his people persisted for that many years in wrongdoing, especially the elites of his time. They continuously rejected him, taunted him, threatened to stone him, and challenged him to bring forth the punishment if he was being truthful.
Prophet Noah called upon God, saying: "Oh God, I have been overwhelmed; so help me." (Surah Qamar, 10)
God commanded him to build an Ark under His guidance so that when the flood arrived, those who believed in God and boarded it would be saved, while those who oppressed others and caused corruption on earth would perish. And that is precisely what happened: the flood came, and only those who believed and boarded the ark survived.
"And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them. All together." (Surah Anbiya, 77)
The occurrence of this event has been supported by historical as well as modern scientific sources. It is discussed in great detail in the holy books, and the Quran specifically highlights the preservation of the ark as a sign for future generations.
"So We delivered him and the companions of the Ark, and We made it a sign for the worlds." (Surah Ankabut, 15)
"And We left it as a Sign. But is there any rememberer there?" (Surah Qamar, 15)
Surprisingly, this divine promise has come true in our time. The Ark of Prophet Noah, which he built under God's supervision, has been found, and reminding people of this great finding is an important task.
The Ark, as God stated in the Quran, rested on Mount Judi.
It was said, “Earth, swallow up your water!” and, “Heaven, hold back your rain!” And the water subsided, and the affair was concluded and the Ark came to land on al-Judi. And it was said, “Away with the people of the wrongdoers!” (Surah Hud, 44)
The word Judi means a "mound" or an "elevation," which means the region has to be mountainous. In 1958, a geological formation as big as the predicted Ark was spotted from the air in the eastern mountainous region of Turkiye. Since then, detailed research has been carried out several times on the site.
In 2010, particularly, a group of 15 Chinese and Turkish explorers discovered wooden specimens on Mount Ararat in Turkiye. Carbon dating of the wood revealed an age of about 4,800 years, around the same time as Noah. The dimensions of the ark also closely match those mentioned in the biblical scripture: a length of 515ft, a width of 83 ft, and a height of 55ft at an elevation of 4000 meters.
The researchers there said that the surrounding area covered in volcanic ash and the freezing temperature at this high altitude created an airtight, mumified environment that shielded the ancient wood from decay over millennia. Taken together, all of this evidence makes it clear that this structure is indeed Noah's Ark.
This Ark stands as one of the biggest and most obvious physical holy signs that Allah foretold in the Quran and came to pass in our time. It also makes the Quran a truth-based word of the almighty Creator who witnesses everything.
Turkish intellectual and influential figure Mr. Adnan Oktar (also known as Harun Yahya) confirmed this discovery as one of the major signs to be discovered in the time of Imam Mahdi. He also predicted the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant.
People who long doubted the existence of the past Messengers, the major events that took place in their times, and the holy words that God revealed to them will now have no excuse to disbelieve and will have to believe in the absolute authenticity of the holy book Quran.
