Plants have different ways to attract pollinators but one such plant known as the bee orchid (Ophrys apifera) has taken attraction to such a deceptive and trickiest level that one remains astounded at the creativity of this plant at mimicking the look of a female bee. And not just the look, it also emits the scent similar to the scent released by an actual female bee. The scent makes the passing by male bee irresistible that he cannot but draw closer, the look of the flower deceives him as a female bee.Visually and olfactory deceived male bee lures in and attempts to copulate, the plant meanwhile attaches the sack of pollen on the head of the male bee, by the time male bee realizes it's not a bee, he moves on to another orchid carrying the pollen of the previous one.
This deceptive system adopted by the plant is quite thought-provoking, how is it possible that a plant with no eyes, and no nose knows that a bee-like creature exists out there and has such a scent?! And then it even has the ability to modify its petal in a way to mimic the look of a female bee and the knowledge of exact chemicals to produce the scent similar to that of a bee and releasing it exactly when the insect is around is nothing short of a miracle. And it seems to be fully aware of the insect's mating behavior as well.
with more than 22,000 species of orchids alone each with their own extraordinary features, bee orchid is just one of them. There is no point that a plant could create all this on its own or it could have evolved by chance by means of mutational mechanism of evolution to have such a perfect working system. Surely, there is an intelligent superior being, who instructed every creature with the knowledge it requires and created them with the best-suited features to their surroundings. This is just one of the countless examples of the perfection of God's creation.
