Okay, so for the first part of your question: I would say one must know what evolution exactly is and what Muslims source of guidance, that is Quran tells about it, and here it is
Although evolution claims to only explain the vast diversity of species by natural processes alone, at its core lies the denial of a Supreme creator. For evolutionists, life originated without the need of a creator and developed itself from matter on earth. It takes chance, sun, matter, and time to be the sole creators. Since it denies God and considers Him to be a made-up thing, It also denies the existence of soul, angels, djinns, miracles performed by Prophets, books sent by God, and life after death. So in that case a good Muslim cannot believe in a theory that rejects the fundamental beliefs that make him a Muslim.
Moreover, this theory has given rise to violent ideologies like racism, capitalism, communism, fascism, and terrorism, State leaders like Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Stalin, Lenin, who applied this theory in society killed millions of innocent people with their oppressive policies. Since the theory continues to be advocated, we continue to see the adverse and harmful effects of this theory in our societies. Such a violent theory goes against love, harmony, equality, and forgiveness preached by Islam.
There is also No proof of evolution in the Quran. Since Allah created us, He knows best how He did so! If Allah had created human beings through evolution which Some Muslims do believe out of lack of knowledge, there should be proof of it in the Quran. But Quran doesn't talk about evolution in any of its verses, it does talk about stages of development of the baby in the womb and from birth to maturity and death. But No verse in the Quran points to evolution. On the contrary, all the verses related to creation points to instant creation by Allah, that Allah created the first man Adam in his perfect form. The miracle Allah gave to Prophet Moses that his stick turned into a living snake is the prove of Instant Creation. The bird prophet Jesus made and blow in it with the permission of Allah is another proof of Instant creation.
Now come to the second part of your question that you were taught evolution in school and if it is right or wrong with proves.
Evolution is taught in schools and universities as a scientific fact. When this theory was first presented by Charles Darwin, it was readily accepted by materialists of those times simply because it gave them another explanation of the origin of life. It didn't matter to them whether what they were presented was right or wrong. However, when darwin formulated his theory science wasn't much advance and he relied on future discoveries for the approval of his theory. But Modern science has provided two major pieces of evidence against the theory of evolution
first evidence comes from molecular biology proving that the first living cell couldn't have come about by itself. the very minute building blocks of the cell, proteins themselves require tons of special and precise steps without which the whole protein will be useless, cannot form by itself and needs the whole-cell present at the same time and should be well functioning for proteins to be of any use. When a single protein cannot come by itself, claiming the whole cell and thereby the emergence of hundreds of thousands of different living beings came by itself over the course of millions of years is really far-fetched.
The second piece of evidence comes from paleontology, the study of the history of life through fossils. All the fossils ever unearthed are of perfect and complex living beings that have not undergone any changes and have remained the same for millions of years. All fossils proved instant creation of living beings. No fossil showed any transition form between the two species nor there is any present-day example of any such species that have totally undergone from one species to another. The fish coelacanth the fossil of which dates back to 360 million years, was considered extinct by evolutionists and was used as a transitional form between fish and reptile, but it was later found living deep in the sea of Indonesia. The claims evolutionist made about this fish were not based on science but on their imaginations. This is just one example, the whole evolution scenario is based on hoxes and similar frauds and fantasies.
The theory of evolution has no scientific basis to be taught as a scientific fact in schools. But because the power is in the hands of people who hate religion and morality prescribed by it, any contrary researches results in the dismissal of teachers and researchers. They don't want the truth to be known by the public. They take advantage of people's lack of expertise in respective fields and try to forge as many imaginary stories of human origin in the name of science as they can to persuade even religious people to accept evolution. Evolution is not true and it is only being promoted to make people forget about God and his prescribed morality.
